If you are a caregiver to a loved one who is afflicted with Alzheimer's, dementia, or any form of cognitive impairment I highly recommend this book. Being a caregiver I can attest to the importance of the statement, "Knowledge is power in the fight against memory loss and Alzheimer's Disease." That being said I admit to reading many books available and being very disappointed. I found them to be too clinical, usually neglecting chapters, a boring read. I could not put down Paula Spencer Scott's Surviving Alzheimer's and had no desire to skip any chapters. Her book provides you with excellent advice, helpful hints, options in dealing with concerns. The format is an interesting one, so easy to follow and understand. This book is worthy of recommending and sharing, yet a keeper for the caregiver, one that is needed, to be turned to while on the journey. It will become a different kind of the perfect first aid manual that you've had forever. It's evident that Paula Spencer Scott cares about everyone. Treat yourself to this book, make it a part of taking care of you!Product details

Surviving Alzheimer Practical tips and soulsaving wisdom for caregivers edition by Paula Spencer Scott Professional Technical eBooks Reviews
This book helped me understand more of what my mother could be experiencing with her dementia and it provided much needed encouragement, affirmation, ideas and resources for me. It is so difficult watching someone you love literally lose their personality. I felt I was informed before reading this, but learned much more. The second half is especially useful.
Recommend to anyone dealing with Alzheimer's in the family or friends. This is a tragic disease which affects all who come in contact with the person slowly losing themselves to this disease. Helpful tips for survival, as it is the care providers who experience the greatest toll as they watch the patient fade away.

I am reading several Alzheimer's books as a caregiver and this one is special. I recommend it to anyone who is a caregiver. Easy to understand. I like the professional panel that give their thoughts also. This book has given me some insight to this disease I was needing.
An excellent and extremely helpful book for anyone caring for someone with dementia. It has helped me and my sisters improve the quality of our father's life as he is being affected by this cruel disease. It has also helped us improve the quality of OUR interaction with him, learning how best to communicate with him, and learning how to keep him engaged and focused as much as possible. Truly remarkable!
I have read this book cover to cover and found it helpful. My father suffers from Lewy body dementia, found many parts of this book that I can relate to. Wish I had this book years ago before he needed to be hospitalized, and wish someone would write a book for people with late stage or nearing end stage dementia.
I have a small library of books on Alzheimer's. However, this book literally had it all in a very clever format. The "what to do" section at the end of each topic is filled with great ideas. On each page, I recognized some aspect of life with my mom who is is the late moderate stage. Many of the suggestions my family has discovered on our own during our 5 years (and counting) of caregiving. However, there was plenty of new information even for the seasoned caregiver. This will be the book I recommend from now on to friends beginning this arduous journey.
I own and operate a dementia care business in NW Washington DC. This recently published book is every bit as good, if not better, than "The 36 Hour Day," long considered the Bible on dementia care. This book is better organized and contains more detailed steps for area that often cause caregivers real problems, such as bathing. It is well research and written in a clear, easy to ready style. This is my new hand out for my clients. Thank you for writing this practical book.
